Zandile lives on the mountain ridge that forms the border with Swaziland with her son of 12 years old. The images in her work find its inspiration in the heraldic images of the Department of Health’s emblem. She took this ordinary image and made it her own, to delight us. Yet, ironically she walks in the passages and sits waiting in the queues of the local hospital Mosvold, for her anti retroviral medicine. Her brave wish is to see her son grow up and finish school, and to have the means to accomplish that.
